Agricultural Biotechnology Department

The Department of Agricultural Biotechnology was reformed from the amalgamation of two research departments: Plant Biotechnology and Livestock and Aquatic Biotechnology in April 2013. At present, the department boasts a full-time faculty of 21 members, which includes 6 Professors, 9 Associate Professors, and 6 Assistant Professors. Additionally, there are 7 research technicians who contribute to the department’s research activities. The research within this department is conducted across 3 research groups including:

• Plant Bioproducts Group
• Livestock and Aquatic Biotechnology Group
• Plant Molecular Biotechnology Group

Medical Biotechnology

The Department of Medical Biotechnology was restructured from three previously active research departments: the Department of Medical Genetics, the Department of Basic Science, and the Department of Stem Cell. This Department comprises 23 full-time faculty members. This includes 4 Professors, 10 Associate Professors, 8 Assistant Professors, and 6 research technicians. Currently, the institute’s research activities are organized into three research groups:

• Medical Genetics Group
• Molecular Medicine Group
• Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Group
• Nigeb Lab

Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology

As one of the three sub-institutes of NIGEB, the Department of Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology was established in April 2014. The institute enjoys the active scientific collaboration of twenty two faculty members and 5 research assistants.The scientific activities of the institute have been concentrated on three research groups:

• Bioprocess engineering Group
• Environmental and energy biotechnology Group
• Systems biotechnology Group
